We love spreading the word about the music we’re into, both new and old. With this weekly series, we aim to deliver new/current music to you in a quick, consumable way. Every Tuesday, we’ll share some new music with you! Free Tunes Tuesday features more than just artists/bands with ties to Cellar Door, it’s a megaphone for whatever we’re hearing out there that we think should be heard more.
Artist: Megan Zurkey
Track: Thinking Out Loud
Before “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran won the Grammy for Best Song, Megan Zurkey already had her version in the tank. While cutting a new original tune with Jim Stewart, she and her band decided to spontaneously give this song a shot as well.
Steeped in the solid groove of drummer Ken Scheopf and bassist Adam Orin, Zurkey’s version feels relaxed and almost more chill than the original. Here’s what Megan had to say about the song:
“I fell in love with “Thinking Out Loud” last summer when asked to sing it at a wedding. And it just won Song of the Year at The Grammys! Check out my band’s version available TUESDAY on almost every digital platform possible, in anticipation for the release of my new original song, “Round and Round” coming SOON! Thank you to Jim Stewart Recording,Cauliflower Audio and my band Ken Schopf, Zach Catania and Adam Orin for making music with me! Photo by Sian Wright, Graphics by Jenna Fournier.”
