We love spreading the word about the music we’re into, both new and old. With this weekly series, we aim to deliver new/current music to you in a quick, consumable way. Every Tuesday, we’ll share some new music with you! Free Tunes Tuesday features more than just artists/bands with ties to Cellar Door, it’s a megaphone for whatever we’re hearing out there that we think should be heard more.
Artist: Johnny La Rock
Track: Dance To The Rhythm (Party Time)
Do you have a case of the holiday blues? Feeling a bit down lately? Chances are you’re right there with us, cursing the skies for the atrocity that was 2016. And the worst part is, it’s pretty clear this collective arbitrary hate we’re all having for a calendar year is just a self medicating distraction to the inevitable very real acceptance that this might not just be a phase, that there very well may be doom on the horizon too.
Well, if this IS how you’re feeling, allow us to lift your spirits if only for two minutes and 44 seconds. Because while the rest of us spent the closing days of 2016 taking inventory of a devastating fatality list and spending a little too much time on Canada’s immigration site, Johnny La Rock (producer, musician, writer, renaissance man Eddie Fleisher) dropped this ray of sunshine.
The only information provided along with the song on the various platforms where it’s available reads “The Eurodance revival has begun!” As the title clearly suggests – “Dance To The Rhythm (Party Time)” – JLR has one thing on the mind with this particular track, and by the thirty second mark when the beat drops, you can’t help but be right there with him. Fuck politics, fuck death, fuck your pretentious arms crossed music tastes – let’s dance.
Purchase the song and it’s various remixes on Bandcamp and iTunes.
